Many Christian think of “Praising God” as something that is only done on Sunday mornings in church with the worship band leading us in a spiritual song or with the organ/pianist playing one of our beloved hymns.
“Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven! Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD!”
Psalm 150:1-6
Actually, as important as these times are, they are but a small portion of our weekly acts of Praise. Our lives are the ultimate act of praise. The things we do and say are the best way to praise our GOD.
Praise should be an intrinsic attribute of our prayers. But sometimes it can be challenging to find words adequate to the task. Fortunately, the Bible is filled with examples of how to express our adoration. For instance, King David says,
“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.” Psalm 68:19
Our praises proclaim the value we place on our love, reverence and respect to we have with our Heavenly Father and Savior.
“God inhabits the praises of His people.” Psalm 22:3 NKJV
“What does it mean to have God “inhabits the worship of believers?” It has to do with the closeness of our relationship with the Lord. God made His promise to the physical presence He has in out life.
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8
As we think of God inhabiting our praises, let us always remember that the Lord is always with us, but He also enjoys and resides when we take the time to draw near to Him through our worship.
GOD THE CREATOR – I praise you, God, because “You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you” Nehemiah 9:6
GOD THE DELIVERER – “I praise you, God, for though I am poor and needy you are my help and my deliverer.” Psalm 70:5
If you have a praise you would like you share, or some words as to how great the Lord has moved in your life, you can may want to post it on our e/mail account [email protected] God may use your testimony to encourage a brother or sister that is walking through a similar valley. Your sharing could be the PRAISE that God will use to assure them that Jesus is close to them and will never leave us.
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
